Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco
Required Documents: OBL/AWB, Passport, Consularized list
Customs Regulations: If above the limit, alcoholic beverages are subjects to duties and fines
Clearance: 10/15 days. Customer presence is not required for clearance.
Remarks: Returning Brazilian citizens and foreigners with permanent visas are allowed to bring alcoholic beverages and tobacco into the country. Limits are as follows: (liquor) 60 bottles, (tobacco) 400 cigarettes
Firearms and Weapons
Required Documents: OBL/AWB, Consularized list with full description
Clearance: 10 days. Customer presence is not required for clearance.
Remarks: The shipper must obtain a special license
Household Goods — Permanent Visa:
Required Documents: OBL/AWB, Passport, Stamped Visa, Consularized list
Customs Regulations: Used household goods must be in the possession of owner for more than 1 year and cannot be for resale.
Electrical appliances: You may bring only one of each brand. Un related on the Consularized list are subject to duties and fines.
Clearance: 10/15 days. Customer presence is not required for clearance.
Remarks: The shipper must be registered at the Federal Police within 30 days after arrival.
Household Goods — Returning Citizens
Required Documents: OBL/AWB, Passport, Consularized list, Residence certificate
Customs Regulations: Used household goods must be in the possession of the owner for more than 1 year and cannot be for resale.
Electrical appliances: You may only bring one of each brand. Unrelated goods on the Consularized list are subject to duties and fines.
Clearance: 10/15 days. Customer presence is not required for clearance.
Household Goods — Temporary Visa
Required Documents: OBL/AWB, passport, stamped visa, consularized list, work contract, customs bond
Customs Regulations: Used household goods must be in the possession of the owner for more than 1 year and cannot be for resale.
Electrical appliances: You may only bring one of each brand. Unrelated goods on the Consularized list are subject to duties and fines.
Clearance: 15/20 days. Customer presence is not required for clearance.
Remarks: The shipper must be registered at the Federal Police within 30 days after arrival. Prohibited Items: liquors, cosmetics, food, perfumes, medicines, spices, etc.
Pets and Animals
Required Documents: Consularized list stating animal, Proof of inoculation
Clearance: Upon arrival
Vehicles — Diplomats
Required Documents: OBL/AWB, Passport, Diplomatic free-entry document (REDA-E), Detailed invoice, Proof of ownership, Power of Attorney from Embassy
Customs Regulations: Dock storage charges are based on the value of the car and start upon the date of discharge from the vessel.
Clearance: 10 days. Customer presence is not required for clearance.
Remarks: Only diplomats are allowed to import cars/motorcycles
