Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco
Required Documents: Inventory with the exact number and sizes of bottles and containers
Customs Regulations: Owner has to pay full duties and taxes
Clearance: 3 days. Customer presence is not required for clearance.
Diplomatic Removals
Required Documents: Certificate from the embassy or the consulate
Customs Regulations: Duty-free entry for foreign diplomats. German diplomats returning to Germany are not privileged to a special status.
Clearance: 3 days. Customer presence is not required for clearance.
Remarks: Customs authorities are authorized to make a survey at the customer’s home.
Firearms and Weapons
Required Documents: Certificate of registration, valid passport, proof of ownership, gun license
Customs Regulations: Duty-free if firearms have been used personally by the owner for at least six (6) months in a foreign country. The owner must apply for a German ownership permit.
Clearance: Time can vary. Please have guns packed in accessible locations within your shipping containers as they may have to be removed while passing through customs. Customer presence is not required for clearance.
Household Goods and Personal Effects
Required Documents: Certificate of registration, valid passport, inventory in German or English, declaration signed by the customer stating that no high-valued tax goods are contained in his/her household goods
Customs Regulations: Used household goods are duty-free if the owner has used the objects personally for at least six (6) months in aforeign country prior to moving to Germany.
Clearance: 3 days. Customer presence is not required for clearance.
Remarks: Customs authorities reserve the right to review the goods before delivery.
New Furniture
Required Documents: Commercial invoice, packing list, copy of B/L, certificate of origin
Customs Regulations: Customer has to pay customs duties and import tax
Clearance: 3 days. Customer presence is not required for clearance.
Pets and Animals
Required Documents: Health certificate issued by competent veterinary surgeon at the place of origin. It is required that this certificate must be in German.
Customs Regulations: The importation of pets and animals is allowed provided there are no symptoms or suspicions of infectious illnesses. No cases of rabies can be reported within a radius of 20km from the place of origin of the animal during the 3 months prior to moving overseas to Germany.
Clearance: 3 days. Customer presence is not required for clearance.
Remarks: The health certificate is valid for 10 days (20 days for animals coming from non-European countries such as the U.S.) from the date which it has been issued. Plan according to ensure that you are able to ship within this timeframe.
